Security Settings for New Features
Abstract
To protect the security settings for all offices, when new features are released by Capable Software, any new menu items are automatically secured to prevent any staff from accessing them. This can cause some confusion for operators who would normally have ‘Total Access’. This knowledgebase article explains how to access new features that are secured in this manner.
Underlying challenge
If an item on a menu is greyed out, this may be because the feature is disabled, or it may be because the currently selected operator does not have the security privileges to access the feature. To grant the privileges to the operator, follow the procedure detailed below.
Resolution
To grant access to any menu item:
Go to Setup|Setup Operators.
Double click on the operator’s name.
/li>
Go to the password tab.
If the operator would normally have ‘Total Access’, perform steps 5-8. Otherwise, refer to the detailed instructions.
Change the operator’s privileges to something other than ‘Total Access’.
Click Apply, but do not close the window.
Change the operator’s privileges back to ‘Total Access’.
Click Apply. Close the window.
Detailed Information
If an operator does not have Total Access, but needs access to a new feature,
Click the ‘Customise’ button on the password tab of the Operator Properties window.
Locate the menu where the new feature is accessed.
Locate the new feature in the list of menu options.
Ensure that the menu item is ticked to indicate that the staff member has access to it.
Close out of the various operator setup screens.
